Tennis Tournament 2010
Oakridge Tennis Championship 2010
August 5-8, 2010
315 90 Ave SE
Congratulations to Don Best, Oakridge Tennis Champion, 2009.
IMPORTANT – Much to everyone’s surprise, Oakridge has been forced to start construction of their new courts on July 5. Therefore this tournament will be reduced do a draw of 16 and will be moved to the Acadia Athletic Park this season. Apologies for the confusion. If you have any questions, please contact Brent Johner at 403-238-0687.
2010 Tournament Details:
This is a well organized co-ed tournament best known for its prizes and strong support from local businesses. More than $3000 worth of prizes have been given out in the tournament’s four year history. Every player (and every volunteer) who participates wins a prize. Prizes are awarded by lottery, so the worst player can win the grand prize. Even volunteers can win the grand prize. Fans can enter to win the Fan’s Door Prize.
Champions are presented with an engraved medal and a trophy. Champions from other divisions are presented with ribbons. The tournament champion’s name is engraved on duplicate trophies which are displayed at the Oakridge Community Centre and the Oakridge Boston Pizza.
The tournament wraps up with free pizza, soft drinks and prizes for players and volunteers on Sunday afternoon.
This tournament is open to men and women in the 3.0-5.0 range. Anybody may enter. Players do not need to be members of Racquet Network. Family and friends are invited to attend and cheer the players on. They are also invited to participate as volunteers and share in the tournament prize draw.
This is a 16-player double elimination draw with consolation draws. Weather permitting, every player plays at least three matches. Everybody plays on the final weekend of the tournament. Every player and volunteer present at the wind-up party will win a prize.
2010 TOURNAMENT SPONSORS
At the end of the tournament, all players and volunteers are included in the prize draw that is supported by local businesses. Here is a list of businesses who have already committed to sponsoring the 2010 tournament.
