Kids Tennis Lessons

Friday is Kids Day at the Oakridge Community Centre tennis courts. Kids and juniors from ages 5 to 14 are welcome to participate in tennis, pickleball and speed badminton activities.

Learn to Play Mini-Tennis – Ages 5-8

Learn to play mini-tennis with a certified Tennis Canada professional. This is a special program that utilizes child-sized racquets and nets along with oversized balls that are ideal for teaching younger children. Topics covered will include physical literacy as well as tennis ground strokes, volleys and serves. Individual feedback and correction will be appropriate to the skill level of the participants. Ages 5-8 are welcome.

All sessions occur on Friday evenings from 5:00-7:00pm. The schedule for the 2010 season is as follows:

  • Spring 2010 – June 4, 11, 18, 25 and July 2, 2010
  • Summer 2010 – July 19, 16, 23 and August 13, 20, 2010

Some sessions may be rained out. There are no refunds for missed lessons or lessons cancelled due to bad weather. Instructors will do their best to make up lost time by extending sessions that are not rained out. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early so that you may prepare with a proper warm up.

Junior Tennis Lessons – Ages 9-14

Learn to play tennis with a certified Tennis Canada professional. This is a game-based program for juniors at the beginner to low-intermedate level. Topics covered will include ground strokes, volleys, serves and serve returns. Individual feedback and correction will be appropriate to the skill level of the participants. Ages 9-14 are welcome.

All sessions occur on Friday evenings from 5:00-7:00pm. The schedule for the 2010 season is as follows:

  • Spring 2010 – June 4, 11, 18, 25 and July 2, 2010
  • Summer 2010 – July 19, 16, 23 and August 13, 20, 2010
